Tool time!

Noah is showing Abigail the ropes.

Definitely taking after her brother - this is one of her favorite toys to chew on!

Gotta have ice in your milk

If you haven't tried it yet, you've gotta try putting ice in your milk. Doug thinks I am wierd... but, seriously, you are gonna love it - at least I do. Especially in a bowl of cereal, 2 big ice cubes and it's perfect - nice and icy cold.

Best of friends

It is really cute watching Noah and Abigail becoming "friends". He likes to give her kisses and pat-pats, and bring her toys. When we took this picture he had actually asked out of the blue - "May I hold Abigail please?" So I went and grabbed my camera. She is starting to give him really big smiles, and is starting to giggle when he does certain things. He has really gotten her going with the giggles a few times in the last week or so. 2 weeks ago they had there first "fight". Not really, but I was holding Abigail on my lap, and Noah was bending down under the chair to grab something, as he was coming up she grasped a handful of his hair in her little hand a yanked it towards herself. He let out a little yelp and looked up in disbelief - like "What just happened?!?!" I explained that it was an accident and she didn't do it on purpose. I think he learned to keep his head away from little hands! :-) We are glad they are close in age, and pray that they will grow up to be wonderful friends.

Digging

Noah REALLY likes to dig. When we were going to the fair yesterday he kept asking if he could bring his shovels, bucket and digging vehicles and if there would be sand at the fair! He can play happily in the backyard for hours, digging trenches, building roads, etc. etc. Oh, and yesterday he learned how to make "worms" and "pies" out of mud. He figured out the worm thing all on his own, and I helped him out with the pie thing. Little boys are wonderful!

Geocaching

We went Geocaching the other day for the first time. It was a lot of fun. Basically it is a treasure hunt using your GPS system. People hide things all over the place and then log them into a website, you can look up ones that are near your location, and pick a difficulty and terrain level that suits you - plug in the coordinates and then go hunting. There was one that was 185 feet from our house (as the crow flies). So we headed out on our big "adventure". We ended up not being able to find the treasure, because you can't actually plug in coordinates on our GPS, but we did have a lot of fun looking - and we came away with some pinecones - and we found a tiny one for Noah and told him that was the treasure. He was thrilled. I could see how the whole geocaching thing could be a really fun and free family activity!

Noah has been promoted

Noah just got a promotion... to be the official silverware "puter-awayer" - he gets to put all of the silverware away (except the knives). It is pretty cute, we pull the chair up next to the drawer for him, and he happily puts them all away.

The fair

This is the 3rd year Noah has ridden a pony at the fair. It was his first time going around without one of us walking right by him. He was a little nervous the first go around, but by the end he was smiling and yelling "Ya-hoo!" when he would come by me.

Waving at the camera.

Relaxing after eating our Gyros. Yum-yum!

Abigail hung out in the Ergo carrier almost the whole time. Even though her face doesn't look super happy here, she did really like it. She even napped for about an hour, and then was content just watching everything going on and taking it all in.

This was Noah's favorite ride. The caterpillar roller coaster with Daddy. He had a huge smile on his face as it would go down the hill, but because of the angle I couldn't get a good picture of that.

Again, not the best shot, but this was the other ride that Noah went on, he had a lot of fun on this one too. After both rides he was saying he wanted to go again.

Fireproof

I have been out of the blogging grove for a bit here, but I wanted to make sure to give a big 2 thumbs up and recommendation for the movie Fireproof. Doug and I went on a date - I guess it was last Friday, first we went to Cheesecake Factory, our current favorite place and had some super yummy food. Then we went to see the movie as we had heard great things about it. It lived up and surpassed the expectations.

Click here to see a trailer: http://www.fireproofthemovie.com/

Or if that doesn't work - this is a brief synopsis of the plot: At work, inside burning buildings, Capt. Caleb Holt lives by the old firefighter’s adage: Never leave your partner behind. At home, in the cooling embers of his marriage, he lives by his own rules. After seven years of marriage, Caleb and Catherine Holt have drifted so far apart that Catherine wishes she had never married. As the couple prepares to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb’s father challenges his son to commit to a 40-day experiment he calls “The Love Dare.” When Caleb discovers the book’s daily challenges are tied into his parents’ newfound faith, his already limited interest is further dampened. Is it too late to fireproof his marriage? Caleb Holt’s job is to rescue others, but now he has to face his toughest job ever … rescuing his wife’s heart.

Doug and I cried and laughed the whole way through! This is one that I would strongly encourage you to go see in the theaters. And we usually see about 1 movie a year if that tells you anything. It will encourage your faith and your love for your spouse. Even if you aren't married, it is a great movie!

Wiindex can be dangerous...

We had a block party here last weekend and it was a lot of fun. It was something we had been wanting to do for a while - to get to know all of the neighbors better. Finally God gave us the nudge to make it happen. We had about 20 people here, and it was really neat getting to hang out with them, share a meal and swap stories. Our neighbors who are Indian brought really yummy/spicy "curry fritters" (I can't remember what they are really called). We had prizes for the person who had lived here the longest, lived in the most states etc.

Noah had a lot of fun running around and playing with all of the kids. Until... he thought that the sliding glass door was open and decided to go inside. Only problem was the door was closed, I had just windexed it and normally it has all kinds of little kid fingerprints on it. So anyways he went full speed into the glass - ouch! He is tough though - only took him a minute to get over it. So the moral of the story is: windex can be dangerous - use with caution! :-)
